The Sci-Fi Film School #28 - Repo! The Genetic Opera

On this episode of The Sci-Fi Film School, we talk about the 2008 horror-rock opera musical film Repo! The Genetic Opera



Starring Alexa Vega as Shilo Wallace, Paul Sorvino as Rottissimo "Rotti" Largo, Anthony Head as Nathan Wallace, Sarah Brightman as Magdalene "Blind Mag" Defoe, Paris Hilton as Carmela/Amber, Bill Moseley as Luigi Largo, Terrance Zdunich as Graverobber and Joan Jett (cameo) as Guitarist.

In the near future, a biotech company saves mankind with synthetic replacements for failed organs. But those who default on their new liver or heart are subject to repossession. Shilo (Alexa Vega) navigates this dystopia while searching for a cure for her rare illness. Her odyssey is set to a number of catchy songs in this tongue-in-cheek opera.

Rated R, the movie ran 98 minutes and cost 8.5 Million to make.  On Rotten Tomatoes, critics give it a 32 percent rating, while the audience gives it 73 percent.
